I'm running for Federal Hocking School Board because I envision a Better Federal Hocking. During the last year, our District has experienced its share of crisis and turmoil. A time of crisis is also a time of opportunity, and I believe we should use the current crisis to reinvent Federal Hocking for the better.

1) A Better Federal Hocking will treat every resident of the District like a customer. Our district residents pay the bills to make community-based education possible, and they are owed respect and accountability. Their questions should be addressed, their ideas and preferences be given consideration, and their complaints resolved.

2) A Better Federal Hocking will live within its means, seeking both to reduce unnecessary expenditures, and at the same time, to grow its resources by thinking outside the box to create stronger programs that retain existing students and attract new ones, as well as new sources of grant funding.

3) A Better Federal Hocking will make basic skills education of ALL of its students its first priority, since with those skills EVERY student has the tools to succeed.

I believe that Federal Hocking's greatest resource is not is tax dollars, its facilities or even its staff, but a colorful community of intelligent, creative and hardworking people who can not only work together to solve Federal Hocking's difficulties but make it better.
